Prep Time: 15 Min.                              Total Time: 40 Min.                              Makes: 8 Servings

• Heat oven to 350 degrees. Unroll dough in 13×9-inch baking dish; press to cover bottom of dish, firmly pressing holes and seams together to seal.
• Sprinkle ham over crust. ( you may want to season the ham a little for added flavor; your choice) Beat eggs, milk, and pepper with whisk until blended; pour over ham. Top with cheeses.
• Bake 25 min. or until center is set.

“The Relentless Breed”

Civil Rights- Rights of citizens to political and social freedom and equality.

The Civil Rights Movement was a game changer. The path the United States was progressing in could not continue. During this time period the citizens of the United States was destroying itself by fighting and killing each other. The nation was in an uproar. This movement caused a dramatic shift; it caught the world’s attention in such a way the Federal Government had to respond. It was the beginning of a new era; a new breed that was relentless, and refused to continue to be treated less than a man; less than a woman because of the color of their skin. Nor the coarseness of their hair.

This time period in our nation’s history is without a doubt disgusting, embarrassing, and yet victorious. Yes, I understand this is a sensitive subject but it is true, and not talking about will not changed what happened. Because of this significant movement you will Not address nor label me as a “Colored Girl”. Instead I am classified as an educated African-American Woman. I have the same rights and opportunities as my White counterparts. Allow me to introduce to you this Relentless breed of the Civil Rights Movement.

• Prepare linguine according to package directions in 3-qt. saucepan. Add broccoli during last 4 min. of cooking time. Drain linguine mixture.
• Heat butter in skillet over medium-high heat. Add seasoned chicken (Use seasoning of your choice) and cook until well browned and cooked through, stirring often.

My friends have created a book club, and the first book they have decided to read is called “The Hunger Games”.  So far, I have been hearing some great reviews and excitement from reading this book.  Anytime a group of young women get excited from reading a book when they have options to be doing something else is a great thing. The ladies definitely spark my interest in reading this book as well. I usually keep my textbooks from college, because my goal is to create a book collection featuring a variety of books. I want my own personal library. Never know when you have to go back and conduct research. Happy Reading!

 Background Facts:

The Hunger Games is a young adult novel written by Suzanne Collins. It was originally published on September 14, 2008, by Scholastic.The novel is the first book of The Hunger Games trilogy. It is written in first person and introduces sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world in the country of Panem where the countries of North America once existed.

 Focal Point:

The book deals with the struggle for self-preservation that the people of Panem face in their districts and the Hunger Games in which they are forced to participate. The starvation and need for resources that the citizens encounter both in and outside of the arena create an atmosphere of helplessness that the main characters try to overcome in their fight for survival. Katniss’s proficiency with the bow and arrow stems from her need to hunt in order to provide food for her family—this necessity results in developing skills that are useful to her in the Games, and represents her rejection of the Capitol’s rules in the face of life-threatening situations.

The choices the characters make are morally complex and often fall in the “grey area” between right and wrong—Katniss and Peeta’s decisions to kill other tributes in order to promote their own survival exemplify that complexity. The book explores the ambiguity of violence as well as its effects on people, such as Haymitch, who became an alcoholic after winning the 50^thHunger Games. Katniss’s need to break the law in order to feed her family and the praise and adoration of victors by the Capitol also demonstrate the issues with morality that the people of Panem encounter.

What is the definition of life? Is it something you can see, or some type of magical mist. I’m not talking about your physical appearance created by a collection of DNA traits. Life is a capacity for growth, functional activity, and continual change until death. Your life is a gift granted by God and only God. Your life was not an accident, mistake, nor was it granted by chance. Every person was born according to God’s purpose, and your life is the results of God’s blueprint.

Your life is a book. Your life is a story. Each day you are living according to what is written on the pages. I call it the pages of life. Every new year symbolizes a new chapter; a fresh start. When ever we are granted with the opportunity to start over; we should not be repeating the same spoil tactics that takes away our production time. Every comma, question mark, and period was placed by God. Remember that old saying, “Life is not fair” which is true. Life is not fair, because life does not play fair.

Let’s imagine a baseball game. You are the batter, and your life is the pitcher. The batter’s job is to hit a home run if it is possible. The pitcher’s goal is to throw curve balls to stop that from happening. An excellent pitcher will cause the batter to swing blanks (3 strikes and you’re out). The batter maybe out, and embarrassed but not for long. Our lives sometimes reflect a baseball game, but do not allow the curve balls of life and disappointments cancel you out. You maybe down; but you are not out.

It’s not over…………..

Just turn the page. There are some chapter’s in my life I do not understand why this had to happened. Truth is it’s hard to see how certain situations was included in my book (my life); in my chapter in the first place. For some reason it was incorporated, and it was a scene being set up to formulate the next chapter. Our lives was already planned according to the will of God before we was born. Now please do not use this fact as an excuse to validate your actions, because God still gave us the freedom of decisions. It is written in the bible, “ Choose ye this day, whom you are going to serve”. We still have a choice to do right or wrong. Our lives consist of many roads; many options to try out. Some roads leads to destruction, and some roads leads to a prosperous life. In both cases, we will still encounter detours, disappointments, and road blocks. Unfortunately, no one is exempt from this; although it would be nice.

Recognize when you have entered into a new chapter in your life. Too many times, the pages are turning forward, and we are still stuck in the middle of a previous chapter. Learn to turn the page, and stop looking back at preceding chapters. Why re-read a section; a chapter in your life when you already know what the outcome is going to be. I love watching old school sitcoms re-runs, but after a while I get tired of watching the same episode. When it gets to the point when you know the actors script line by line. It’s time to change the channel.

Instead of repeating the same actions; find out what is #Next on your agenda.
